#223 Goodbyes
Comic for August 19, 2020
Welcome back!!! To me and to all of you! Thank you for sticking around and for your patience.
It’s been a long three months for many of us. Since then I had to replace my PC, my Wacom tablet, and figure out new versions of software that I use to create my comics, as well as handling work and life. I’ve been through a lot of bouts of anxiety, which unfortunately made it difficult for me to draw. But I’m happy to say that brighter times are ahead, and I’m happy to be back to drawing!
The Sunday comics are a great deal of work, and this one was no less. I decided to make swatches of all the colors I use in making a GD Sunday, and I was shocked to see I used over 100 different colors and shades! No wonder they take me so long! But I’m such a stickler for detail, I just can’t do it any other way.
This comic *had* to be a Sunday, it just couldn’t have been done in 4 panels. There was too much to say and too much sentiment. Sorry that the first comic back is a sad subject!
A few people asked what was going to happen to Sputnik and was he going to join the rest of the crew who volunteered to take the place of the colonists. Of course Captain Thew wasn’t going to allow that. But it doesn’t make it any easier to be left behind.
Stay tuned to see what happen next! And again, thank you for your support!
Dana
A spectacular return! A masterfully done comic. Your work really should be in the news papers. Glad to see you and the dragons back again.
You’re too kind Howard, thank you for the compliments! I feel the same about Pesky Gremlins! I’m glad to be back. 🙂
YAY YOU BACK!!!!! I’d give you big hug but you know…..
Thanks Grouchie! We can do one of those awkward elbow bumps, haha! The handshake of the future! 🙂
Wow, what a way to come back from hiatus. ?
I’m surprised that T-Bone, Azimuth, and Ion are remaining silent here.
I’m surprised that Ion never spoke about Thew’s decision, and that T-Bone didn’t really protest the decision.
And I’ll be surprised if Sputnik actually follows/sticks with Thew’s orders.
Hi Casanova! Thanks for the comment! Ion, Az’, and Tee are being respectively quiet for the sake of Sputnik and Thew. It’s kind of like when you’re in a room with people and one person is grieving while another person talks to them, we usually stay quiet out of respect. If this was a graphic novel there would be more frames for more dialog (which would be a dream), but in the 8 panels I have to work with, I didn’t want to fill them with too much dialog. Sometimes more can be said in fewer words. 🙂
